This species was commercially harvested prior to 1940, but populations have declined severely since and it is no longer fished commercially. It is still collected for food by recreational divers in some areas, and there is increasing interested in aquaculture. This code replaces previous (interim) CAAB code 00 653004 (FISHLIST 653004).
