BRAN1 - The Bluelink Reanalysis
Before implementing the Bluelink ocean forecasting system, we have chosen to run the model in hindcast mode first. We have done this now for 1992-2004. Testing and evaluation of the model is now in progress.
We have prepared an animation [182 Mb .avi file] [10Mb .mov preview] of the model's surface temperature field. The motion of surface drifters is also shown for independent assessment of the accuracy of the model. The animation starts in mid 1997 and zooms in on the Indonesian seas as the El Nino reaches its peak intensity. We then do a lap of Australia as the next three years unfold, finishing off the NW shelf in 2001. We hope you enjoy it.
