The Near Real-time Underway Data visualisation application was developed to provide an interactive method for viewing and inspecting underway data summaries collected by the Marine National Facility and National Collections & Marine Infrastructure and served by the Data Centre.
This application was developed by Francis Chui at the CSIRO National Collections & Marine Infrastructure Information and Data Centre with contributions from Max Wang at Scientific Computing, Information Managment & Technology.
Underway Data summaries were provided by the Data, Processing and Management Group on behalf of the Marine National Facility and National Collections & Marine Infrastructure, CSIRO.

Data is sourced from NOMADS Environmental Modeling Center, National Centre for Environmental Prediction, National Weather Service / NOAA.
The subset used in this application contains UGRD/VGRD at 10m above ground for wind speed and direction and TMP at surface to colour the particle trails in temperature. These were extracted from models at 0:00, 6:00, 12:00, and 18:00 along the ship track using forecasts 000 and 003 to display 3 hourly weather data.

The subset used from the Multi-grid Wave model contains PERPW/DIRPW for period/direction of primary waves and HTSGW to colour and size the particles in significant height of combined wind, waves and swell. These were extracted from models at 0:00, 6:00, 12:00, and 18:00 along the ship track using forecasts 000 and 003 to display 3 hourly wave data.
