FR 12/89 (alternative identifier: FR198912) - is a Marine National Facility voyage
Period: 1989-11-03 00:00 to 1989-11-10 00:00 Local
Duration: 7.00 days
From: Launceston To: Hobart
Region: Tasmanian waters
Ship: Franklin [details]
Description: Cruise FR 12/89 was undertaken to study the ecology of the late stage phyllosoma larvae and puerulus stage of the Southern Rock lobster, Jasus novaehollandiae (now known as Jasus edwardsii). To investigate the nature of the infrared radiation upwelling from the ocean surface and the ships heading derived from GPS navigation data in waters off eastern Tasmania. Survey methods included EZ net system, infrared radiometers, CTDs, and underway instrumentation. Numerous biological, water samples and data from the two radiometers were collected for on board and laboratory analysis. Good data was also collected on all possible GPS times.
