Description: Cruise FR 09/88 was undertaken for sampling of benthic, demersal and mesopelagic fauna from the continental slope of south eastern Australia off Nowra, Bass Strait and off Freycinet Peninsula, from a depth range of 400 m to 3000 m. Documenting the cruise on film was also conducted by Image Action Films. Survey methods included epibenthic sled, box corer, beam trawls, Isaacs-Kidd Midwater Trawls (IKMT) and underway instrumentation. Samples collected were to be sieved, sorted and studied and to be preserved for further taxonomic study.
