[details]
S. Rintoul (CSIRO) Southern Surveyor cruise SS 02/98 had the objective of mapping the distribution of temperature, salinity, oxygen, nutrients and velocity in the vicinity of the Subantarctic Front, in the Southern Ocean south of Tasmania (approx. latitude 48 degrees-52 degrees S, 138 degrees-145 degrees E). Upper ocean currents are to be studied with ADCP and continuous measurements of sea surface salinity and temperature will be obtained from the salinograph for the whole voyage. Two magnetometer moorings were also to be recovered.
