However, Kotlyar did not examine any specimens in Australian collections and several Melamphaes species are known to occur in the Tasman Sea, suggesting that specimens designated as Melamphaes longivelis in Australia could now comprise several different species. Given the difficulties with the taxonomy of this group, this code has been made non-active, pending better resolution of specimen identification in Australian collections.","habitat":"Pelagic, Mesopelagic (200-1000m, Oceanic)
Marine unspecified
","NameVerifiedSource":"","Parent_Id":37251901,"scientificName":"Melamphaes longivelis","kingdom":"Animalia","order":"Stephanoberyciformes","otherVernacularNames":"","Reference":"","vernacularName":"Eyebrow Bigscale","ChildCodes":"","RecordCreatedOn":"1997-01-01","scientificNameID_WoRMS":"","family":"Melamphaidae","standardName":"Eyebrow Bigscale (AS5300)","class":"Actinopterygii","scientificNameID_AFD":"","CAAB_status":"Valid"}
