New Caledonian material, which forms the type series, was collected at several trawl stations from 'seamount B', (~24°55’S, 168°21’E) along the northern sector of the Norfolk Ridge at depths of 494–920 m (Roberts & Paulin 1997); most commonly at 535–700 m. No additional material has been forthcoming from Norfolk Ridge. Other material collected from off Danger Point, s Qld (28°00’S, 153°58’E), south to Gabo Island, Vic. (37°45’S, 150°13’E) at depths of 410–485 m; additional <i>Euclichthys</i> (presumably <i>E. robertsi</i> but not confirmed) were collected off Sydney, NSW (AMS I.15970-003) at 503–512 m, and off Jervis Bay, NSW (AMS I.23874-002) at 732–768m.
