The psychology of climate science: Understanding, 'Skepticism', and Communication
How do people understand climate data? Can people even understand the fundamentals of the physics? Does lack of physical understanding motivate the seemingly growing number of climate "skeptics" or are there other factors at play? How is climate science best communicated in the face of contrarian voices that are relatively small in number but highly organized and vocal? Do we need to communicate the science at all, or is there a better way forward? Psychology and cognitive science can contribute a number of insights and recommendations that help address those questions.
