Status of ocean model development at GFDL

The GFDL ocean model component to its AR4 coupled climate model has much in common with that being developed for AusCOM (e.g., MOM4 code, roughly one-degree horizontal resolution). Ongoing development at GFDL (post-AR4 and pre-AR5) has allowed us time to revisit some of the choices made in building the AR4 model. During this seminar, we highlight changes to numerical and physical algorithms that are being investigated that hold some potential for enhancing the ocean component of the GFDL coupled climate model. These changes in turn may be of use for AusCOM.
