Variability of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation

A program of observations and modeling has been carried out in Kiel, in order to understand the mechanisms of the formation and transport of North Atlantic Deep Water and its consequences for the large-scale transports.

This talk will present results with a focus on the interannual to decadal variability of the water mass formation processes and meridional overturning circulation.
