Introduction to the International SeaKeepers Society
SeaKeepers is a not-for-profit organization, formed six
years ago by a group of wealthy, yacht owning philanthropists. In addition
to donating money, many of these individuals made their yachts available
for evaluating and testing prototype oceanic and atmospheric monitoring
systems. Today, we have a patented ocean and atmosphere monitoring system
that has been deployed as an automated package on a large variety of different
platforms. These platforms include private yachts, cruise ships, freighters,
buoys, piers and lighthouses. There are currently 45 installed systems,
with another 12 in process. On a typical day, we receive 3 hourly transmissions
from between 15 and 20 platforms.
