Bob Johannes Memorial Lecture
given by Mr Graeme Kelleher
(and introduced by Dr Tony Haymet)

"A Celebration of Bob Johannes' Life"

Dr Bob Johannes, a former CSIRO marine biologist and environmental scientist, died in Hobart in September, 2002. This lecture will revisit Bob Johannes' life, his science and his influence on contemporary views in the Australian and international marine science community.

Mr Graeme Kelleher, a leading International advocate of the establishment of marine protected areas, will give the Bob Johannes Memorial Lecture. Mr Kelleher has been Chair of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, and co-author of "A Global Representative System of Marine Protected Areas", a milestone guide to MPA's produced by GBRMPA, the World Bank and the World Conservation Union (IUCN). He now Chairs an international task force aiming to accelerate the establishment of a representative network of marine protected areas in the high seas (ie outside national jurisdiction).
