Description: Cruise FR 07/94 was undertaken to study the current structure of the Great Australian Bight, its relation to the Leeuwin Current, and its exchange with the Southern Ocean and also to determine the distribution and abundance of pilchard eggs and larvae across the south coast of Western Australia and the Great Australian Bight in relation to the Leewuin Current. Survey methods included vertical, surface, oblique and EZ net tows, ADCP, CTDs, XBTs and underway instrumentation. Data, water and biological (other fish larval species, including Australian Salmon) samples were collected for on board and laboratory analysis. Pilchard egg culturing experiments were also conducted on board.
