Description: Courageous cruise 031 was the first of three cruises undertaken to survey the demersal and pelagic fish community of the western Great Australian Bight, using pelagic and demersal trawling, and in passage from Sydney to Esperance, to collect biological samples from jack mackerel. The voyage took place between Sydney-Esperance-western Great Australian Bight-Esperance, from 1 to 22 February 1978.
